Our new space for 2020 was packed as we welcomed nine new members and several guests. As we settled into the meeting we learned about three new great charities. Rita Andolsen introduced us to MetroHealth’s S.A.F.E. Project, we heard from Jena Olsen who spoke about the International Women’s Air & Space Museum and then Karen Snyder presented Improbable Players for whom we voted to support this quarter. Please be sure to check out these awesome organizations and thank you Rita, Jena and Karen for presenting them to us.
Improbable Players uses theater performances & workshops to address addiction, alcoholism and the opioid epidemic. Interestingly, their plays are performed by people in recovery themselves. They perform at schools (6th grade and up), conferences, treatment centers and community events. Their plays are based on true stories and their workshops give students the space and the tools to combat social pressures and find coping strategies that work for them. Our donation of close to $13,150 will certainly help keep these important productions going in our community!
