Our sixth quarterly meeting included 3 wonderful presentations from members of our group. The voting was very close, however the majority voted to support the organization Honor Flight Cleveland. This organization began in 2007 and its mission is to fly as many elderly WWII veterans or other terminally ill veterans to visit the war memorials in Washington DC, FREE OF CHARGE (approx $250 value). Their vision is to honor the veterans who have proudly served our county and give them a chance to see the memorials that were constructed in their honor. They are in need of funding for their next flight which is scheduled for November 9th so it is perfect timing that they got the nod at this meeting. Had we not voted to support this group, the next flight would not have been until May 2012 and unfortunately some of our veterans may not make it that long. So far we have collected $11,000 (plus additional matching contributions for Honor Flight Cleveland!
Also presented at the meeting was two other fabulous organizations, first The Dream On Foundation presented my Mim Conway and MedWorks presented by Joy Freda. Please check them out!
