For our Summer meeting we gathered at the Aviator for some refreshments and to learn about three awesome CLE charitable organizations. Much appreciation goes out to Karen Snyder for presenting 2nd Act, Ellie Bricmont for presenting the Village Project, and Linda Kelly for her presentation of Upcycle Parts Shop – the charity we voted to support this quarter.
Upcycle Parts Shop, a small store front based in Cleveland’s St. Clair – Superior neighborhood, is a non-profit, creative reuse center, selling low-cost secondhand supplies, and is a central component of a larger initiative to revitalize this neighborhood. Hands on programming and workshops help serve to build community within the neighborhood while at the same time contributing to the efforts to save our planet. Together within their community and others, they have diverted over 51 tons of material from landfills since opening their shop in 2014. Our donation of $10,050 will go a long way of continuing the good they are doing for the people, the economy and our planet!
