Despite the cold weather, we kicked off 2016 with a packed meeting and a great number of charities in the fishbowl! We learned about 3 wonderful local charities, with the winner being “A Night to Shine” presented by member Tracy Smuts. A Night to Shine is a worldwide prom for mentally challenged and physically disabled adults age 16+ that was being hosted by over 200 churches across the US and in 7 other countries on February 12, 2016. In Northeast Ohio the events were held in 3 churches – CVC (Cuyahoga Valley Church), Garfield Memorial and First Christian Church. These events were individually hosted with guests from Northeast Ohio. 100% of the funds raised were used for “A Night to Shine” – with our individual donation of $13,500 going to the CVC event.
Also presented at the meeting was Ears to You by member Rina Dabramo and the Fairview Park Hunger Center presented by Judith Meinart. Please check out all three of these wonderful charities!
