Just like our meeting last January, old man weather (vs Mother Nature!) decided to come for a visit and blow snow all over our roads again to make it almost impossible to get out of downtown! But we did have a good showing despite the weather and we did have a lot of guests come to see how we get business done. I think we must have made a good impression because we had 20 new members sign up, so a big thank you to all our members that recruited their friends and family to come visit with us. For this, our seventh meeting, the membership voted to support The Gathering Place, presented by member Serina Peck. The mission of The Gathering Place is to support, educate and empower individuals and families touched by cancer through programs and services provided free of charge. There are two locations in Cleveland, one on the west side in Westlake and the other on the east side in Beachwood. Our funds ($11,375 + Matching gifts) will be used to buy new synthetic wigs for those men, women and children who have lost their hair from chemotherapy, which for some may the most stressful part of their treatment.
Also presented at the meeting were two other wonderful local charities, first MedWorks presented by Joy Freda and Another Chance Ohio presented by member Jan Thrope. Keep on trying, gals!
